From 2022 to 2025, we developed a Junior Section at East Bridgford Cricket Club from absolute zero through to a thriving junior section of 80+ members. Here is a brief look at how that was achieved…

A Brief History of the development of East Bridgford CC Junior Section 2022-24

2021 – No Junior Section had existed at EBCC for 25 years
Autumn 2021– Robin had casual conversations with EBCC members who expressed an interest in getting a junior section going again.
Nov 2021 – Robin was invited to put a proposal to EBCC Committee
Jan 2022 – EBCC AGM, Robin’s proposal to try to establish a Junior Section was accepted.
Spring 2022 – Promotion at local Primary School and at the club resulting in a small group of Year4s starting a coaching squad. This group grew to 12 by the end of the season.
Winter 2022/3 Our “original 12” trained indoors at a local Sports Centre
Spring 2023 – The original 12 plus a few new additions became EBCCs First Junior Team entering The Newark & District u11 League. Further promotion through school and at the club produced many more players at a wider range of ages.
Summer 2023 – Junior Membership peaked at 53 covering ages 5-12 years.
Winter 2023/24 – again indoor training was provided.
2024 Season – Junior Membership closed at 86! Ages 5 – 14 Years. A new Girls Only Section established. Five Junior Teams running: u12 Hardball Friendly, u11 Hardball League, u11 Girls Softball, 2 x u9 Mixed Kwik Cricket.
In 2025, we began replicating this in Flintham in very much the same way and look forward to a similar success.
